Violinist Jordan Johnson has freelanced throughout Maryland, Virginia, and the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area since 2010. He has performed and recorded with numerous organizations, including the UMD Symphony Orchestra, Peabody Youth Orchestra, Avanti Orchestra, DC Strings, and CAAPA.

Jordan Johnson is a professional violinist, educator, and scholar currently pursuing a Master of Music in Violin Performance at the University of Texas at San Antonio under the mentorship of Dr. Nicole Cherry. He holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Maryland, College Park, and has performed throughout the Washington, D.C. area at venues including the Kennedy Center and with ensembles such as the Naptown Philharmonic Orchestra and Live Arts Maryland.
As an educator, Jordan has taught violin and viola students of varying levels and previously served as a Suzuki-inspired strings teacher at The Norwood School, adapting instruction for neurodiverse learners. As Strings Program Director for the Foundation for the Advancement of Music & Education, he developed a chamber music program at Hyattsville Middle School supporting its local Hispanic community. He has also coached youth orchestra sectionals and led masterclasses.
Jordan’s artistic and scholarly work focuses on amplifying underrepresented voices in classical music, particularly works by African American and Latino composers including Joseph White, Florence Price, and Jessie Montgomery. His long-term goal is to pursue a Doctor of Musical Arts and contribute research and performance that help broaden the traditional classical canon.
