Jesse Reece

Classical guitarist and North Carolina native, Jesse Reece is known for delivering performances with a unique and sensitive voice. He is passionate about giving performances and aims to reach beyond musical aspects and encourage audiences to engage with the emotional aspects of music and themselves. He has completed his BM degree at East Carolina University where he studied with Dr. Elliot Frank and is currently pursuing his MM Performance at The University of Texas at San Antonio with Dr. Isaac Bustos. In 2023, He was a participant in Ex-Aequo’s Emerging Artist’s Initiative, in which he performed multiple concerts in Austin, TX, recorded solo works with Drew Henderson, and premiered “Six by Six” by Sergio Assad with five other guitarists chosen for the initiative.

He has been awarded first place in the solo guitar competition in the Appalachian State University Guitarfest (Undergraduate division, 2022), awarded in the Columbus State University Symposium (Undergraduate division, 2023) and the Queens University of Charlotte Symposium (Open division, 2023), and has placed as a semi-finalist in many open divisions including the Florida State University Guitar Festival (2022), the East Carolina University Guitar Festival (2022), and the Appalachian State University Guitarfest (2023) where he was awarded a special prize for the best interpretation of an early 19 th -century guitar work.Jesse is also passionate about chamber work and the electric guitar and has performed in a wide range of settings including jazz, rock, pop, and new music settings. These performances have been invaluable to him and have inspired him to bring the attitudes and style of the musicians that he has worked with into his own music and has helped him to further develop his style of interpretation and musical identity.
