Berk Agar, born in Izmir, Turkey, began classical guitar lessons in middle school and pursued music theory and composition at Del Mar College, completing his studies in 2008. He earned a Bachelor’s in Classical Guitar Performance at Texas A&M University under Philip Hii and led the band Mundo, releasing albums in 2009 and 2011. In 2011, he joined the University of Texas at San Antonio for his Master’s in Guitar Performance, graduating in 2014, and taught at Palo Alto College until 2018. Mr. Agar recorded with Turkish band Insiyatif, released the single “Serendipity,” and became director of Northside Music School in San Antonio.

He founded the world music band Viatorum in 2020 and published the guitar book *Fundamentals of Classical Guitar*. In 2021, he collaborated with Grammy winner Mark Walker on the *Road Trip* album and joined the Northwest Vista College faculty. In 2022, Texas Public Radio featured his band Viatorum, and he was endorsed by Pitbull string company. Berk remains active in various musical collaborations, including the Southwest Guitar Symposium, San Antonio Guitar Society, and NAMM convention, where he performed in 2024.
